Tumult opening
On Saturday, 26 September, the doors of Tumult will open — formerly known as VRIJDAG.
This new creative space brings all of Groningen’s amateur artists together under one roof, with opportunities to make music, theatre and visual art. Located in the heart of the city, at the foot of the Martinitoren and right next to the Forum, Tumult will be a vibrant hub for creativity where you can experiment, learn and create together. A place for creative energy, made by and for the people of Groningen.
The new building will feature numerous studios and workspaces, as well as a Children’s Workshop, a theatre and an acoustic music room. Everyone can participate in art and culture
Everyone should have the opportunity to take part in art and culture. That is Tumult’s mission.
In the municipality of Groningen, we offer workshops, courses and classes in music, theatre and visual arts for all ages and skill levels. Children can also visit the Children’s Workshop throughout the week for creative workshops and children’s parties.
Through Tumult in Education, we provide cultural programmes for schools, both during and outside school hours. The cultural coaches of Tumult in the Neighbourhood bring art and culture to neighbourhoods across the city. And through Open Studio, we provide accessible spaces where young people can develop creatively, personally and socially.
Through KultuurLoket, we support and enable amateur arts across the province of Groningen by providing advice and support. Through POPgroningen, we support and promote pop music from Groningen.
